Blog Post 2- Editing 2

 

In our second week of editing, the group and I tried to come up with ideas that would make our film better. Since we are filming a documentary, we decided to add subtitles into the film to guide the viewers throughout the video and give them a sense of what is going on. In addition, we continued to edit the inspirational music in the background to match the mood of the scenes. In this second week, there wasn't as much arguing as there was in our first week. Everything went pretty smooth for our first draft of the movie opener. Hence, we didn't spend much time editing as we thought it was a respectable first draft.

Blog Post 1- Beginning to Edit

 

In the editing process, Israel Ramirez put together all of the filming that we did in order to show the day in a life of future star Brett Hayes. This was very important as we needed to show a quick recap of Brett's high school experience and his future as a D1 baseball player. During the first week, Israel was able to edit different sounds into the film. To begin with, the background music was very inspirational as it highlighted the journey that Brett has to go through. In addition, other various sound effects were added like the bell ringing to fill up the silence in the background. This process took a long time as it was difficult to edit the way we wanted to as we all had different visions in mind. However, with time the group was able to agree on the same thing.

Blog Post 2- Filming 2

In this day of filming, it was difficult to find a class which would allow us to film the scenes that we wanted. The group and I wanted to show what it meant to be a student-athlete as Brett Hayes needs to be active in both the classroom and the field. With this scene, we can portray him as a student who takes his work seriously for his future.

In this session, Brett Hayes is meeting with his new coach who will lead him through his college career. We chose this location to show how he was a Trojan before becoming a Bronco. In addition, this meeting after the signing shows Brett's end of a journey and the start of a new one which would leave the audience wondering what is next in his career.

Blog Post 1- Beginning to Film

In order to initiate our filming, the group and I had to go to various locations around the school to record the different parts that we needed. As you can see above, we are filming in the school auditorium to capture the moment where Brett Hayes is signing to "Blackfoot University." This was a good location to film at as it provided the necessary props and equipment we needed. In addition, the mood was set as we have Brett Hayes on the center of the stage which shows how big of a day it is for him.
